 Platte River Paintball

Opening in 2010.... Minnesota’s FIRST & ONLY true Mil-Sim Paintball Field.

Due to the size of the project our Opening date for our first “Mil-Sim” Game has been moved to the spring of 2010. The Main base in the picture below is about 90% complete and is able to be played in at this time. The Jungle village is being built in the thickest part of the woods where 2 years ago a wind storm took down about 35 giant White Pines. All the downed trees have been cut up into lengths and sawn into boards. This has been a long process and is just now being completed to the point where we have started building the village in the cleared area. One 8 x 35 foot bridge is complete and the second and third ones are almost complete. More trails have been cut into the denser parts of the woods for easier access to the other areas of the river where you can walk across without getting your ankles wet during the dry periods of the summer. We are also about 90% Poison Ivy free at this time and expect to have it all gone before too long. All in all with all the rain things are going slower than expected and we are looking forward to having our first big “Mil-Sim” Game in the spring.

The Owner of this field has over 28 Years of Paintball experience and has been in and stayed in the Paintball business longer than anyone else in the world.

We will not be trying to set any records for attendance, in fact we will be limiting the number of people allowed to attend each of our big games to 450 people. Our smaller Squad games will be limited to 200 people and also limited to only squads of 7 to 10 members.

Our Games are mission based games. This means you must complete the missions in order to gain the advantage over your opponent and win the war. Squads may need one or more of the following to complete these missions: Handheld GPS, Metal detectors, Digital cameras, Binoculars, ghillie suits and most important Radio Communications.

Platte River Paintball is centrally located in Minnesota. Our field is located 6 miles north of Pierz. We are 2 hours from the Twin Cities, 2.5 hours from Duluth, 3 hours from Moorhead, 1 hour from St. Cloud and never more than 4.5 hours from anywhere in the state, even if you drive a Ford.

The Main Base is a 175’ Triangle that has taken several hundred man hours to build so far. The base should be 80 percent by May of 2009 and fully operational by the first game in June. Buildings, bunkers, bridges, towers, trenches, foxholes, shell holes, ditches, hills, vehicles, “tunnels”, tall grass, dense woods and a river are the types of terrains and obstacles you will encounter.

The games we play here will not just be big “free for alls” named after some historic battle or video game with a few little missions to run and a couple of silly props to bring back. Our games are planned out and orchestrated to simulate some of the conditions that would happen in real combat situations. Altho we will be allowing any mode of fire to be used, only limited paint on the gun will be allowed. Special battles on the field where Mortars are needed will add to the realism. Howitzers in the main base and a Howitzer in a remote enemy fire-base capable of reaching the main base will also add to your experience.
